things I would like to learn

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my life decisions.

No, not in a movie montage HOLY SHIT kind of way. Not even in an agh that was embarrassing, or god I’m trying too hard, or even the classic what am I even doing here…

What I’ve been exploring in this blog is a series of “life lessons”, or as I’d prefer to call them, self-indulgent mind ramblings. But it all seems too serious. Too tethered to the idea that it must matter.

A Playlist on Love

When I started making this morning’s playlist devoted to love–I found myself half-heartedly attempting to curate songs that captured how I feel about Love (as a greater noun than the verb, to love).  At this point in my life, love as a verb is too nebulous.  Love as action is arguably the most popular subject in song of ALL TIME.

The importance of acknowledging injury.

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.” -Paulo Cohelo, The Alchemist.

Ask and you shall receive.  Be careful what you wish for.

The universe is listening.  The desire to foster change often compells us to throw caution to the wind and call in that which we think will most expeditiously bring about the results we crave.  Truthfully, it takes most of us years (if not lifetimes) to really ask for what we want, let alone need.  Once more, it’s much easier to ask a loved one for something we desire because we’re protected in a veil of intimate knowing.  Yet asking from a much greater, nebulous, omnipresent source is much more delicate and tenuous.  To think, let alone speak, our innermost desires in a language that acts as a one way conduit to the listening energies of the universe…is like talking to a dial tone.
Which leads me to explain a moment I experienced a few months ago.
